BA Offers SMEs Reduced Travel Cost

British Airways says it aims to help businesses beat the current economic recession through its initiative known as On Business Loyalty Programme.
According to the airline, the On Business Loyalty Programme is targeted at businesses and savvy business travellers and offers its members an option to choose either a discount on selected flights or earn points as they book American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia and partner airline flights with a BA’s flight number.
The airline also urged travel agents to scale up their trade by venturing into travel consultancy.
The Regional Commercial Manager for West Africa, British Airways, Mr. Kola Olayinka, said the On Business Loyalty Programme permitted management of travel budget with a simple online tool.
“The online management information tool helps you keep track of On Business travel including who is earning points and when. You can also redeem on business points against reward flights and upgrades,” he said.
He further advised the travel agents to begin to introduce the On Business Loyalty Programme to customers.
The founder of smartmoneyafrica.org, Arese Ugwu, who was a facilitator at the On Business Breakfast organised recently by British Airways, said travel agents needed to stay ahead amid the challenges facing the aviation industry, while helping the customers with exceptional service.
“Disruption, collaboration and leveraging digital media for marketing are the three strategic approaches that will ensure that travel agents are better positioned as consultants,” Ugwu said.
